Turn down the heat!
Can you believe that the vast amount (up to 90%!) of a washing machine’s energy expenditure is used up solely on heating up the water in order to wash the clothes? This means that if you wash your clothes at 30-40°C you will ultimately save significant amounts of money. So get that washing turned down and start putting that money back in your pocket!
No tumbling in warm weather!
Why spend so much money on energy to tumble dry your clothes when there’s so much free energy from the sun just waiting to be used outside?! Air-drying your laundry rather than tumble drying it could again save significant amounts of money, and if there’s warm or windy weather then it can be just as fast.
Beat those creases!
Taking your clothes out the drier before they’re completely dry will help them to iron much quicker and you’ll inevitably use much less energy on the tumble drier!
